For those of you who still haven’t seen the amazingly painful interview with Jian Gomeshi on QTV, go here: http://www.youtube.com/qtv. Here is my attempt to capture this unique moment in Canadian history with a series of haikus…
Billy Bob Thornton
or as he’s perhaps best known
Angelina’s ex
Oh poor Boxmasters
your rent is now being paid
by a crap frontman
Jian Gomeshi
seventeen syllables can’t
describe your coolness
Watching an old man
throw a tantrum like a kid
nothing is sadder
Oh William Robert
the only non-actor with
2 films out this fall
“Struggling musician”
with his own three page rider
the best of both worlds?
You and Tom Petty
similar but for one thing:
Tom Petty can sing.
Dropped from the tour now,
Willie Nelson and Ray Price
don’t need your bullshit.
her blood in a vial
as vampire, not too shabby
as human, you suck
Jian and Billy
surely we can settle this…
perhaps a drum-off?
Ya see, Billy Bob,
Canadians LOVE gravy.
We just don’t like YOU.

I’ve recently (finally) started to update my Audio page…one of the things I added is a rather nifty bootleg recording of a tune from a Susan Tedeschi show that I did at the Nokia Theatre in NYC in 2007. Click on the ‘Audio’ link above and check out some of the new clips (I’ll be adding more over the next few days).

I’ve recently become a huge fan of Twitter, the social networking site. Something about the simplicity of the site and the oddly interesting 140 character limit have me hooked. BTW for those of you on Twitter, my username is sweetmarcus if you feel like following me. On a related side note, I recently started following David Miller (mayor of Toronto); his Twitter username is mayormiller. His posts are incredibly dry and funny, and ridiculously frequent. Highly recommended.

Just found out that Shannon Butcher’s latest album, ‘Words We Both Could Say’ (which I had the pleasure of producing and mixing) is on the iTunes Best of 2008 in both the Best Vocal Jazz and Best New Jazz Artist categories…which makes me very happy!
